Issued handgun under a transition starting July 2018 and due to finish by July 2023 (policy manual, Jan. 2022).

The BPD policy manual (January 2022) says the department began a phased transition in July 2018 to the 9mm Glock 17 as its issued handgun, with a Glock 26 option for detectives, to be complete by July 2023. Officers may also buy approved Glock models under an officer purchase program. A city recruiting packet also lists a 9mm Glock as provided equipment.
