Members carry the Glock 17 (9mm) unless otherwise approved, per the 2021 public manual. Current status not re-verified.

The Charleston (West Virginia) Police Department policy and procedures manual (a 2021 public version) was published on DocumentCloud in 2023. Its weapons section states that members carry the Glock model 17 in 9mm. CID members, plainclothes officers and staff officers of lieutenant and above may carry the Glock 26. Members previously issued a .40 caliber Glock 27 may use it as a secondary or backup firearm. The section header carries an older amendment date. Current status not re-verified.
