Glock Model 17 series (9mm) is an authorized primary firearm for newly appointed officers, who purchase their own (2017 manual). Current status not re-verified.
The Omaha (Nebraska) Police Department policies and procedures manual (public version dated May 18, 2017) was published on DocumentCloud. It states that primary firearms are 9mm, .40 or .45 Glocks. Newly appointed officers must purchase and carry a 9mm or .45 Glock, either the Model 17 series or the Model 21 series. Officers are responsible for purchasing these firearms rather than being issued them. The manual is from 2017. Current status not re-verified.
