Salem (Missouri) Board of Aldermen approved on July 28, 2026 (3-0) the police department's purchase of new duty handguns with trade-in of its current duty weapons. The staff request and vendor quote in the July 28 packet name the Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Metal, cut for the Holosun 509T, and the Holosun HE509T-GR-X2 optic, replacing the SIG Sauer P320s the department had carried for about eight years. The minutes are in the August 25, 2026 packet. A purchase approval, not confirmation of issue.
