Affiliate & sponsorship disclosure

Duty Arms Index may earn a commission when you click an affiliate link and buy something, and we may accept sponsorships. This never costs you anything extra.

Affiliate links

Some pages link to retailers through affiliate programs, for example retailers in the AvantLink network and others such as Brownells or Primary Arms. If you buy through one of these links, the retailer may pay us a commission. The price you pay is the same. Affiliate links are labelled “Sponsored links” on the page and marked rel="sponsored nofollow" for search engines.

Sponsorships

We may accept sponsorships or paid placements. Any sponsored content or placement is clearly labelled as sponsored and is kept separate from agency records and comparison data.

What money never changes

• Which agencies, weapons, optics, lights or ammunition we list, and the order or ranking they appear in.
• Confidence ratings. These follow our methodology: only sourced documents can make an entry “Official”.
• Maker spec comparisons and trend counts.
• Corrections. A retailer or sponsor relationship is never a reason to add, keep or remove an entry.

We do not sell firearms

Duty Arms Index is a reference site. We do not sell, ship or transfer firearms, ammunition or accessories, and we are not a dealer. Any purchase is made directly with the retailer. Firearms bought online ship to a federally licensed dealer (FFL), who runs the required background check. Federal, state and local laws vary, so check your local law before buying.

Law-enforcement-only models

Many issued items are sold only to agencies (for example select-fire rifles, SMGs and contract variants). When that's the case, we may link the closest civilian version and say so on the page. Civilian versions differ from the issued item.
