Most Met officers are unarmed: firearms are carried only by Authorised Firearms Officers (ARV, specialist firearms, counter-terrorism and protection officers). The MPS pistol platform is the Glock system, with Gen3 to Gen5 guns in service (PCD 1214, 2022); generations are not broken down by role. Glock 17 named in the 2023 MPS weapon table and on the archived ARV page.
