An October 2022 Athlon Outdoors article says the standard-issue weapon for Miami-Dade Police Department officers was the Glock 17 9mm; before that, officers chose from an approved list. The article says its information is 'best available' and may not come from departmental sources. The department became the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office in January 2025 under Florida's constitutional amendment; current issue under the Sheriff's Office was not re-verified.
