The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (via WSB-TV, February 11, 2016) reported DeKalb County police moving from the .40-caliber Smith & Wesson to a 9mm Glock (model not named); 300 officers were already carrying it, and the whole force was expected to switch within about two months.

The DeKalb County (Georgia) Police Department employee manual was published on DocumentCloud in December 2017. Section 4-6.9 (dated October 2014) names the Smith & Wesson M&P .40 as the standard authorized weapon issued to members. It approves the department-issued Remington 870 or a personally owned 12-gauge pump shotgun. Specialized-unit weapons are omitted. The section dates from 2014. Current status not re-verified.
