Most common police duty pistol by state

Short answer: the Glock G45 is the most common primary duty pistol in 20 of the 44 states (including federal) with at least 5 sourced agencies; nationally it's the Glock G17 (national ranking). Click a state for every agency, its pistol and patrol rifle, and the sources.

Data coverage: Based on 587 agencies in the Duty Arms Index with a current, sourced primary duty pistol entry (generations and optic-cut variants combined per model family). States with fewer than 5 sourced agencies are listed separately as small samples. Counts include only current entries with a public source; agencies not yet in the index, or without a sourced entry for this item, are not counted, so treat shares as a picture of the Duty Arms Index, not of every U.S. agency. Data last updated Oct 10, 2026.
