Duty Arms Index

What weapon light do police use?

The Streamlight TLR-1 HL is the most common police weapon light in the index: 10 of 50 agencies with a sourced weapon light issue it (20%), ahead of the Streamlight TLR-1 (5) and the Streamlight TLR-7X (5). 45 agencies have a sourced weapon light on a duty pistol and 6 on a patrol rifle or carbine. Another 4 agencies are sourced as issuing weapon lights without a named model; they count toward the totals and brands below, not the model ranking.

Data coverage: Based on 50 agencies in the Duty Arms Index with a current, sourced weapon light entry (out of 1,179 agencies with a sourced duty pistol, rifle or shotgun). Each agency counts once per weapon light model, even if it mounts it on several guns; tactical-unit (SWAT) gear is excluded. Counts include only current entries with a public source; agencies not yet in the index, or without a sourced entry for this item, are not counted, so treat shares as a picture of the Duty Arms Index, not of every U.S. agency. Data last updated Oct 10, 2026.
