What pistol red dot do police use?

The Aimpoint COA is the most common police pistol optic in the index: 31 of 126 agencies with a sourced pistol optic issue it (24.6%), ahead of the Holosun HE509T (14) and the Aimpoint ACRO P-2 (13). That is out of 849 agencies with a sourced duty pistol. Another 26 agencies are sourced as issuing pistol optics without a named model; they count toward the totals and brands below, not the model ranking.

Data coverage: Based on 126 agencies in the Duty Arms Index with a current, sourced pistol optic entry (out of 849 agencies with a sourced duty pistol). Each agency counts once per pistol optic model, even if it mounts it on several guns; tactical-unit (SWAT) gear is excluded. An optic counts here when its entry is mounted on a duty pistol; the same model on a rifle counts on the rifle optic page instead. Counts include only current entries with a public source; agencies not yet in the index, or without a sourced entry for this item, are not counted, so treat shares as a picture of the Duty Arms Index, not of every U.S. agency. Data last updated Oct 10, 2026.
